Melissa Moyer, invited visiting professor to the Mercè Rodoreda Chair at the City University of New York

The Mercè Rodoreda Chair at the CUNY Graduate Centre, City University of New York, has invited Melissa Moyer, Professor of English Philology at the UAB, to teach a seminar entitled "Sites of Multilingualism: A Critical Ethnographic Approach" on contexts of multilingualism in Catalonia from a critical ethnographic focus.

Moyer's current areas of interest include language, identity, and functional diversity. Her contributions to the study of bilingualism and multilingualism include work on multilingualism in Gibraltar and London, and communication in various institutional sites in Catalonia dedicated to health, tourism, and job recruitment.

Her past publications include Language, Migration and Social Inequalities (2018) co-edited with Alexandre Duchêne and Celia Roberts, a special issue on Language, Mobility and Work in the Journal of Language and Intercultural Communication (2018), her book on methods entitled The Blackwell Guide to Research Methods in Bilingualism and Multilingualism (2008), co-edited with Li Wei, and which received the 2009 book prize by the British Association of Applied Linguistics.
