Who belongs to it?

The main responsibilities of the Department Council are:

  • drawing up and approving the internal regulations;
  • electing and dismissing the director; approving the statement and distribution of expenditure and their implementation;
  • approving the annual report of its activities;
  • producing reports related to its areas of responsibility;
  • planning and coordinating the teaching role of the Department and proposing doctoral programmes;
  • presenting suggestions to the Faculty Board or School Board that it believes are relevant to the syllabuses;
  • pressurising for the creation of university research institutions and other research centres;
  • organising, within its branches of knowledge and subject areas, specialisation and popularisation lectures, seminars, and conference series; promoting the joint coordination of these activities alongside other departments;
  • promoting the drawing up of contracts with public and private bodies for scientific, technical and artistic assignments; proposing who to appoint as members of the committees for selecting teaching and research staff, officials and contract staff;
  • proposing the hiring of visiting lecturers and professors emeriti; proposing the hiring of research staff for short-term and specific assignments;
  • creating committees.
