Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is internationally renowned for the quality and innovation in its research. As part of its efforts to consolidate scientific research, UAB offers predoctoral and postdoctoral grants in several fields. These grants are just some of the various proposals that will be available this year.

In this section you will find detailed information on the different areas and fields of research at the UAB. You can also see the grants currently being offered by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science and the Catalan Government.

All official and updated information on the final lists of selected candidates must be consulted on this webpage. Any other information obtained through internet search engines may contain erroneous or outdated information.

ALLIANCE OF 4 UNIVERSITIES. 24 postdoctoral grants

24 postdoctoral grants. Grants for postdoctoral graduates of  Universitat Autňnoma de Barcelona, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Each university offers postdoctoral grants to graduates selected by the other three universities in an aim to increase mobility amongst all four centres.

Distribution of grants
- The universities in Madrid (UAM and UC3M) will select four PhD graduates from UAB and UPF.
- The universities in Catalonia (UAB and UPF) will select four PhD graduates from UAM and UC3M.
- Each of the A4 member universities will admit additionally two PhD graduates from other universities in Spain or abroad. At least one of these grants will be awarded to candidates from one of the universities in India which have signed an agreement with A-4U.
 

Beneficiaries
The following candidates can benefit from these grants:

a) Holders of a PhD received from 1 January 2008 to 15 October 2011. The date of the degree is the date of the reading and approval of the doctoral thesis.
b) Candidates who have not been hired nor have received grants at the university they apply for in the two years before this call.

Duration
Two years.

Calendar
Selected candidates will begin their stays between 15 September and 15 October 2010.

Amount per year
The gross annual amount of the grant is ¤25,383 and payment is made in 14 instalments per year.

Deadline
Applications and related documents must be submitted from 24 March to 26 April 2011.

Resolution

On 27 May 2011 A-4U will publish the provisional list of selected candidates and the provisional waiting list.

Validation periods
 
On 13 June 2011 A-4U will publish the final list of selected candidates and final waiting list. This information will be made available to applicants via e-mail and will be published online on the website of each of the A-4U universities.

GRANT APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1 - First choose the university you are interested in applying to. After clicking on the option Choose a University and begin the process, found at the bottom of the page, you will be sent to a website with information on all four universities. Do not forget that each centre offers six grants for postdoctoral graduates selected by the other universities.
2 - Once you have chosen the University you are interested in, click on the name of the University  and, during the application period, click on the link Application Form. You can apply at more than one University, but only one final application with be accepted.
3 - Complete the grant application form, providing the necessary documents in electronic format.
