The Postgraduate Diploma in Reeducating the Pelvic Floor is a training programme aimed at professional specialisation of different groups in the public and private health sectors and focuses on dysfunctions of the pelvic floor, whether they be of a gynaecological, urological, coloproctological or sexual nature.

There are currently no postgraduate courses dealing with professional competencies necessary in this field.

Until the 2009-2010 academic year this course was offered at the University of Barcelona and directed by Ms. Mercedes Blanquet, who is coordinating the current proposal.

Given the frequent collaboration between Ms. Blanquet and her team, and the la Fundació Universitària del Bages (FUB), and also taking into account that the FUB also offers related courses (physiotherapy and nursing) as well as the installations at the FUB (classrooms equipped with bunk beds, etc.) it has been agreed to locate this course at the FUB.

It is therefore proposed that the FUB take over the programme coordinated by Ms Blanquet and continue to offer professional training that has already proved to be effective and is in demand by different professional groups (this postgraduate course generates great interest in that it deals with a discipline in constant evolution with growing demand from the public and professionals in the fields of physiotherapy, nursing and rehabilitation, in particular).

Hold a University Degree of at least 180 ECTS or equivalent. Preferably, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or medicine.

Student with this specialisation have adequate capacity to analyse, plan, supervise and control care in pathologies of a gynaecological, urological, coloproctological and sexual nature, and evaluate interventions and treatment programmes.

They will also be able to take on and carry out research projects in the area of knowledge of reeducation of the pelvic floor, in both the public and private sphere.

Student will have access to Pelvic Floor hospital units and in surgeries to offer services in reeducation of the pelvic floor, which are in increasing demand.

They will also have the opportunity and the necessary capacity to open up and develop care in the private sector.
