Postgraduate UAB > Masters and graduate certificates > Nursing and physical therapy > Graduate certificate in physical therapy in paediatrics
The paediatric physical therapy graduate certificate was launched in the 2006-07 academic year. The Gimbernat EUF together with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona have invested great effort to improve the quality of teaching.
The objectives have been: providing training on nervous system and muscle-skeletal embryology; psychomotor, cognitive and language development of the most frequent pathologies affecting children that may be treated by a physical therapist; provide information about motor skills assessment scales and protocols most commonly used today; present different approaches and strategies for physical therapy intervention in the various areas of paediatrics, and competencies of certain professions that may help achieve better results in physical therapy work, and develop knowledge about assessment techniques and work with the family to be applied later for the purpose of improving the quality of life of children with motor disabilities.
Successive editions of these courses have made it possible to share the latest developments in this field among different professionals in physical therapy, medicine, orthopaedics, psychology, pedagogy, social work, and diet and nutrition, leading towards multidisciplinary treatment.
Teaching is supported by clinical practice in collaboration with different child development and early treatment centres, special education schools, hospitals and assisted living apartments.
We are sure that the quality of the content, design, and faculty meet the expectations established, and our wish is to improve the quality of teaching and the participation of physical therapists specialized in paediatrics at health, education and social centres.
