According to Article 25 of the UAB Library Services Rules:

25.1. All those individuals who are members of the university community may be considered users of the Library Services. That includes the following individuals:

• UAB professors and those of centres in conjuction with the UAB
• UAB students of centres working in conjuction with the UAB
• UAB research grant holders and doctorate students from other universities with a regime of reciprocity is established
• Professors and investigators from institutes and research centres, from the UAB or those working in conjuction with it
• UAB Administration and Services Personnel
• Retired UAB professors and administrations and services personnel
• Professors from other universities with wich a regime of reciprocity is
• Members of the Association of Friends of the UAB

25.2. These users may freely access the collections and take books home in accordance with the rules regulating use; they must always identify themselves with the card accrediting them as members of the university community, or with the card provided by the UAB Library Services.

25.3. The public not directly associated with the UAB, but wishing to make a query, may enter after receiving the head librarian?s permission, or with the endorsement of a centre, department or institution belonging to the UAB.

25.4. The university may establish agreements that validate, as users with full rights, members of other institutions. External users may also acquire user status of the Library Services by paying an annual fee, which has been approved by the Consell Social of the UAB.

25.5. Smoking, eating, drinking, speaking in a loud tone, or behaving in a way that could bother other users at the library facilities is not allowed.

25.6. All users may freely access the UAB?s bibliographic data bases.

25.7. Printing of any information and consulting other data bases is subject to specific fees and rules.

25.8. In the event a user needs a document not available in the contents of the UAB libraries, it may be requested by means of the Inter-Library Loan Service. This section gives the user information as to the conditions and current fees.

25.9. There is a photocopy service available to users, which may be used according to the conditions laid out in current laws and rules.
