Strengths of the UAB Library Services Quality System

After performing a certification audit, the auditing team made the following comments about the Quality System of the UAB Library Services:

  • The implication and knowledge of the Library Services staff is considered a very positive aspect of the organisation. That participation makes it possible to ensure the development and improvement of the quality management system in such a way that better service is given to the libraries' users.
  • In regard to this participation, the periodic meetings and the follow up that is done on defined resulting activities should be pointed out. The minutes and records allow this careful follow up to be seen and to know more about the situation of each of the activities.
  • The system of quality of documentation backing up the system itself is considered a highly relevant aspect. The entire documentation (procedures, instructions, support documentation, etc.) is very detailed and clearly defines the organisation's work systems and methods. In addition, the support documentation has been prepared in many cases from a consensus of the service's own personnel, which has obligated it to reach a consensus on these methods and choose the best of them.
  • The user survey taken to discover the perception of the Library Service's customers must be considered a very positive aspect. It should be highlighted that, although the public results of the survey are general, all of the libraries know their own particular results and can use them to make improvements.
  • The indicators defined within the quality management system are considered as a very positive aspect. They allow the basic aspects of the service to be clearly known so it can be run correctly.
  • A very positive aspect during the audit was the use of confidentiality and privacy with the users' personal information.
  • The analysis of the data performed is, in general, considered to be a very positive aspect of the quality management system as are the steps taken to improve and the follow up until it is determined whether the steps are effective. Within this point, we want to highlight the analysis performed on the indicators of the processes.
