| Contractual procedures at the UAB vary according to different cases:
1. If the researchers are in their own country: . A) If the researcher obtains a grant as a personal trainee researcher in the second stage, the call for which is in line with Royal Decree 63/2006 (B.O.E. 03/02/06 (E.g. FPU, PIF): Apply for a full-time student WORK PERMIT: In the Spanish embassy of their country, researchers should apply for a Type ?D? Student visa (open). Once in Spain, after obtaining a N.I.E., they should request a full-time student Work Permit from the IWP. . B) If the researcher obtains a grant as a personal trainee researcher in the second stage, the call for which is NOT in line with Royal Decree 63/2006 (B.O.E. 03/02/06 (E.g. FI): researchers should ask the IWP to send them the pre-contractual information described in Information sheet nº18, for obtaining a RESIDENCY PERMIT WITH WORK PERMIT EXCEPTION visa, whose duration will depend on the information that appears in their pre-contract, although it is renewable. Once in Spain, they should contact the IWP for information on the next steps to be taken. . C)Under exceptional circumstances, the UAB can process WORK AND RESIDENCY PERMITS for post-doctoral researchers through the Large Companies Unit of the Ministry of Work and Immigration in Madrid. For further information please contact the INTERNATIONAL WELCOME POINT 2. If the researchers have been resident in Spain for a period of less than three years: . A) If the researcher obtains a grant as a personal trainee researcher in the second stage, the call for which is in line with Royal Decree 63/2006 (B.O.E. 03/02/06 (E.g. FPU, PIF), a valid NIE is all that is required for their contracting. A full-time student WORK PERMIT can be obtained from the IWP. . B) If the researcher obtains a grant as a personal trainee researcher in the second stage, the call for which is NOT in line with Royal Decree 63/2006 (B.O.E. 03/02/06 (E.g. FI), researchers should present to the SPANISH CONSULATE IN THEIR COUNTRY the pre-contractual information described in Information sheet nº18, issued by the IWP for obtaining a RESIDENCY PERMIT WITH WORK PERMIT EXCEPTION visa, whose duration will depend on the information that appears in their pre-contract, although it is renewable. Once in Spain, they should contact the IWP for information on the next steps to be taken.
