 Relatives of teaching/research staff 

Visa for relatives of teaching and research staff
Teaching and research staff from outside the EU who are working at the UAB and wish to be accompanied by their relatives during their stay (whether on sabbatical or working) in Spain, can apply for one of the following modes:
A) Joint family application
B) Family regrouping

Articles 38-44 of Royal Decree 2393/2004 contemplates the possibility of the resident worker regrouping with his or her relatives in the host country after one year of authorised residency has passed and he or she has applied for the first renewal of the residency permit. This procedure is described in Sheet 30.

Once in Spain, the regrouped family can contact the IWP for help with applying for residency permits. There is a period of one month from the day of entry into Spain to apply for this permit.

For the process of family regrouping, the Government Office of the destination province will request accreditation of economic means (which will be lower than those required for the residence permit for non-lucrative activities) according to the following table:

Regrouped family members can apply for authorisation to work at rates lower than the minimum inter-professional salary during the first year in accordance with Information sheet 72
