Training activities

One of the key aspects of EHEA is its innovation in teaching-learning systems. The training in skills and ECTS assessment represent the beginning of new teaching methods, given that studies focus on learning and competency outcomes students must acquire for their future professional career.

University teaching thus must be organised in a way that these training activities, as a whole, be carried out in an orderly, coherent and balanced manner. To do so it is first essential to identify and typify the activities in order to distribute them according to their importance.

By taking into account the degree of independence with which students will be carrying out each of these activities throughout their university studies, one can distinguish four large training activity blocks:

 Directed
Supervised
Independent
Evaluation

Directed activities consist of teaching-learning activities which take place in the classroom, directed by the lecturer and carried out in groups. They belong to a predetermined programme with a fixed number of hours in which the lecturer directs the class and activities are carried out in groups.

In addition to other aspects the activities include the following teaching-learning methods:

- Master lectures/expositions
- Problem-solving lectures
- Problem-based learning
- Cooperative learning
- Exemplification and case study
- Class practicals
- Laboratory or clinical practicals
- Seminars
- Workshops
- Debates
- Group work presentations
- Simulation exercises
